Construction giant forms new partnership to target Cup and Olympics projects

Canadian engineering and construction giant SNC Lavelin has significantly ramped up its involvement in the Brazilian market, citing opportunities stemming from preparations for the 2014 World Cup and Rio 2016 Olympics as its chief motivation.

Already with small offices in Belo Horizonte, Sao Paulo and Rio, the company has formed a partnership with Brazilian group Alusa, which itself sports 6,000 employees and is considered one of the biggest private concession companies in Brazil.

The companies stated that they will be pursuing large projects such as roads, airports and other government infrastructure facilities, and plan to open a joint operations office in Sao Paulo by the end of this year.
