Golf decision made, next step design and construction

Taking advantage of the increased focus on the golfing world this week thanks to the annual British Open tournament, the Rio 2016 Olympics Organising Committee has confirmed that a new golf course will be built for the event, according to Peter Dawson, chief executive of golf´s international controlling body, the Royal and Ancient.

The new course will be built from scratch on land within the luxurious new Riserva Uno residential development, just a few kilometers away from the main Olympics installations in the Barra da Tijuca region.

Importantly, Dawson also confirmed that the design and construction process will begin in the near future to provide enough time for a test event in 2015. Additional details will be provided as information on this opportunity and related projects comes to hand.
