November a key month on Rio’s event schedule

In November Rio de Janeiro will host two important conferences that should be of interest to a number of Australian groups interested in business opportunities in Brazil in the lead up to the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Rio Olympics.

The annual Soccerex convention, which in recent years has turned itself into the world’s leading football business event, will be held from November 20-24 offering the full 'Soccerex Experience'.

The five day event includes various networking sessions, conference panels featuring world thought-leaders, exhibitions showcasing the industry’s latest products and services and five-star entertainment through the Carnival Dinner and the legend-packed Football Festival.

The second key event was announced just this week and will see a major infrastructure sector exhibition held from November 17-20, immediately before Soccerex. Rio Infrastructure 2010 will take advantage of Rio de Janeiro state’s massive infrastructural development requirements over the coming years, with major works such as the Rio Petrochemical Complex and Nuclear power facility Angra 3 to feature along with the many 2014 World Cup and Rio 2016 projects, most of which are still in the planning stages.

Moves are already underway by key Australia-Brazil business bodies for a comprehensive trade mission to Rio, Sao Paulo and potentially some other key cities during November, and the newly announced event should only increase interest in the opportunity. Although running a month earlier from October 6-8, a further targeted conference option is Expo Estádio, which, although only in its second year, has taken advantage of the major upswing in opportunities in the stadium and major event sectors in Brazil to build a strong and attractive program.
