A call to action for Australia´s relations with Brazil

Australian Nick McGowan, who currently works for the United Nations Bureau for Development Policy in New York, has just written a comprehensive piece highlighting the need for Australia to put significant effort into its relationship with Brazil, for a number of reasons.

Beyond the more obvious opportunities arising in line with preparations for the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Rio Olympics – another two chances for Australia’s world renowned major events expertise – McGowan also points to the more general rise of Brazil as a global superpower set to throw some serious weight around over the coming decades.

The overall message: with the two countries competing in a number of global trade markets, Australia needs to act quickly to ensure we ride on the South American giant´s wave, and not into it.
