Former Bovis architect discusses 2014 stadium situation

Brazilian architect Carlos de La Corte, currently charged with liaising with FIFA for stadium design for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, has recently provided a revealing look into preparations for the event in an interview for industry journal Stadia.

The former Brazil country manager for Bovis Lend Lease, the company responsible for a range of key Sydney 2000 Olympics facilities including the Aquatic Centre, International Athletic Centre and the Athletes' Village, and now various London 2012 projects, now works exclusively for the DARO group’s ARENA brand in Brazil, of which he is the founder.

The interview, here, provides a noteworthy overview of some of the challenges in Brazil in relation to existing stadia and plans for the 2014 World cup, including safety issues, stadium and club management, design and timing.
