Botafogo making important Cup and Games links

In another important private sector play aiming to link with the Rio 2016 Olympics, global nutrition brand Herbalife has signed a deal with Rio´s Botafogo Football and Regatta Club to support the organisation´s efforts in preparing athletes for the event.

The club and Herbalife commented that the main objective of the agreement is to help retain key talents from Olympic disciplines at the club and provide optimal training conditions in an increasingly competitive high performance sport environment.

In return for its financial input, Herbalife, which also sponsors the LA Galaxy and FC Barcelona football clubs, gains a range of branding rights and will be able to use the club´s Engenhão Stadium, one of the most modern in Brazil, for corporate events and entertainment.

Interestingly, Engenhão Stadium has also just been confirmed as a test location for organisers of the 2014 World Cup in a partnership between Botafogo and the Local Organising Committee. The Committee will implement a range of practices for the event at major matches at the facility over the coming years.
